At this three-day festival, La Fira del Vi, you’ll be introduced to the wine culture of this region of Falset. It’s an area that has long been associated with the craftsmanship of producing wine by hand. Wine tasting is the order of the day and you’ll have many chances to talk to the producers. It wouldn’t be a festival without fabulous food and great music to accompany all the tastings.
Some events take place in interesting and historically rich locations, such as the former lead mine, Bellmunt del Priorat Mines and Museum. The international reputation of the wine attracts an international audience.
The two internationally recognised denominations of origin are DOQ Priorat and Monsant.
Montsant – Grenache and carignan are two of the outstanding wines produced here. Almost half the of the high-quality wine produced and is exported.
DOQ Priorat – Winner of prestigious international awards, the Priorat wines are extremely popular. The characteristics of the Priorat make the wine produced here unique and exclusive. It bears the Qualified Designation of Origin which means protective measures are in place to ensure the continued quality of the wine produced.
