Nice Jazz Festival, France : 16th – 20th July

Nice Jazz FestivalNice Jazz Festival has a rich history. It started in 1948, when it was the first jazz festival launched in the world.

During its existence, Nice Jazz Festival has hosted some of the biggest names in the industry including Ella Fitzgerald, John Lewis, Pharoah Sanders, Bone Walker, Herbie Hancock Quintet and many others. At first, almost a half century, it was just a parade, in 1994 it was renamed into the Nice Jazz Festival.

The aim was shaking up tradition, and open up to diverse musical styles – a whole new world of music. And this kind of thinking placed it among the most visited jazz festivals in Europe. The venues are at Place Masséna and Le Théâtre de Verdure.
